Welcome to The Nourishing Cook Blog!

My name is Kim Knoch, and I am busily cooking and blogging about my experiences with the recipes in Sally Fallon Morell’s Nourishing Traditions cookbook. Subscribe via RSS or email to receive Nourishing Traditions recipes and tips.

I love hearing from readers, your comments keep me cooking! Please feel free to comment and let everyone know your thoughts about whatever the subject is at hand. We talk about a lot of things in the posts and the comments: how to get our families to eat ‘real food’, how to switch to the traditional way of cooking, and a lot of subjects from the Weston A Price foundation web site. Anything cooking related goes! Let me tell you, the tips from readers in the comments are amazing, a lot of good cooks are adding their ‘two cents’ here, thank you for that!

A word of caution, it’s not always pretty here, and I tell things as they are. Husbands are cranky and make canned chili instead of eating the carefully cooked meal, children complain about just about everything, and occasionally even frozen pizzas are consumed. In this blog, my goal is to show the REAL face of real food and changing to a healthier way of living.

I am a super detailed person, and so if you like detailed recipes, you came to the right place! I include Sally Fallon’s original recipe, and also provide any changes that I made in brackets. On most posts, I also include a bulleted set of tips on that recipe. These tips are from real experiences that I’ve had. Hopefully I’ve figured out some of the hard things about these recipes so that you don’t have to!

Now get out there and COOK! And please follow along in your own copy of Nourishing Traditions. If you do not have a copy you will need it, get one here. I include recipes, but there is so much content in the cookbook that I do not include, since NT is also a nutrition primer and also has many interesting facts about different foods.

  • If you are a blogger, please consider looking at the Tweetadder tool to add to your Twitter followers. You should be able to get to 10k followers in about 3 months (I’m tracking to this now). It’s a great tool that I’ve been using and has helped me get a lot of targeted followers.
  • You may also want to consider giving Swagbucks a try. Basically you can search the web through their site and earn ‘swagbucks’ that you can trade for prizes, such as Amazon gift certificates. You can also receive Swagbucks for recycling your old cell phones, game systems, and iPods.

If you have questions or feedback, please feel free to get in touch with me in email, on Facebook or Twitter:
