Our Facebook Page has been HACKED

UPDATE 5/1/14: After 4 weeks we finally got our Facebook site back! Thanks for your support

I would like all of our readers to know that on Saturday March 29, 2014 the Nourishing Cook Facebook page was hacked. The hackers have taken control of our page and removed me as an admin, and Facebook has not helped us gain control back despite reporting it in multiple ways. The hackers also took over our sister blog Eat Fat Lose Fat facebook page as well. They are basically holding both pages hostage and posting their own content for gain.

The hackers are posting some recipes that contain ultra-processed foods that point to their web site (I will not post the link here because I don't want to reward them with a back link). Most of their posts aren't recipes that you would normally see from The Nourishing Cook. Many people have unliked our pages due to some of the content that was posted.

Really worse than the posting is the STEALING that they have done of almost 5 years of posts that me and my helpers have worked so hard on. Our social network of over 75,000 fans that we built one-by-one has been taken over for their own profit and greed.

Please remain patient with us and the posts and please do NOT unlike our page, as that will really hurt us when we do gain control back (I am trying to remain optimistic here).

You Can Help!!

Here are a few things you could do to help:

  1. If you know ANYONE that works at Facebook, in any capacity, PLEASE forward them this post to see if they could help. It's impossible for a business page owner to get a hold of anyone at Facebook, even through the help files. I have already secured my personal account, but when I did this it was too late, they had already added themselves as an admin and deleted me.
  2. Go to one or both Facebook pages and comment on the posts that they've done (starting date March 30th). The hackers have blocked me, my husband, and most of my friends from commenting on my own page. Here are the pages: The Nourishing Cook, and Eat Fat Lose Fat.
  3. Do NOT click on their links in the posts – this will just ‘reward' them and give their web sites more traffic (and income) from the hard work that I've done.
  4. BE CAREFUL ON THIS ONE: Go to this app https://apps.facebook.com/fraud-detected and click “report” in the bottom right hand corner of the screen. DO NOT LOG INTO THE FIELDS. This is the malicious Facebook app that took control of my pages, and it looks JUST like a Facebook logon page. It won't hurt you as long as you don't log into it, and clicking ‘report' will help out a lot. Facebook needs to take down this malicious app, but it's still there at this writing.

If you have any other advice, please let us know… thanks for reading! We look forward to providing you more delicious recipes and hopefully letting you know of these posts on Facebook, in the future.

3 Tracy April 1, 2014 at 4:21 pm

So sad that we have such nonsense in the world today. I tired to access the FB page and it does not allow me to. Not sure why… ???

4 Kim April 1, 2014 at 4:43 pm

Oh great, now it looks like they’ve taken down the Nourishing Cook facebook page. Can anyone else see it? http://facebook.com/TheNourishingCook

5 Sarah Miller April 1, 2014 at 7:57 pm

It is gone. I’m so sorry this happened to you. 🙁

6 Kim April 1, 2014 at 8:47 pm

They’ve taken it down. They can’t delete it right away, so hopefully Facebook will actually DO something soon.

7 Tasha April 2, 2014 at 11:19 pm

I can see it. So sorry this has happened to you. Hopefully it gets fixed soon!

8 Cathleen April 1, 2014 at 5:37 pm

So sorry to hear that hackers have gotten to your FB page. People can be so disgusting. Hope they get this worked out for you.

9 Cathleen April 1, 2014 at 5:39 pm

I couldn’t get to you FB page either. 🙁

10 Jaime April 1, 2014 at 6:02 pm

I’ve been checking it all day, but within the last hour, it’s gone! This is so terrible.

11 Christina April 1, 2014 at 8:39 pm

I am so sorry for the loss of your work and for the defamation of your name. And I do have an idea for you: Quit Facebook. They have unethical business practices (for just one example: they committed so many violations of their own privacy policies that they are under federal oversight for TWENTY YEARS!) And they have unhelpful business practices, witness how you cannot get any help from them. They do not deserve your loyalty your time or your effort. Again I am so sorry for your loss.

I can see the facebook page. Sorry this nightmare is happening to you. I hope facebook steps in but they are often silent in cyberspace

13 sahara April 6, 2014 at 6:10 pm

So sorry this is happening to you. I’m sure I’ll be blocked in a moment, but I commented on a few of their things to show others you were hacked. As a business owner, my heart went out to your call for help here. I know how it feels to not get a hold of someone at facebook. (I’ve had a Yelp nightmare with my business)

14 jennifer April 9, 2014 at 12:03 pm

i am so so sorry!!! i just caught wind of what was happening. just awful. i hope you get it back soon somehow.

15 Lori April 13, 2014 at 9:00 am

I hope you get your FB pages back soon! I noticed that My Recipe Magic blogs page was hacked the last couple weeks too with the same links that are being posted on your pages by hackers. They were able to get their page back yesterday, maybe you could message them and get more info in helping you get your pages back. Good luck!

16 Megan April 17, 2014 at 7:23 am

They have renamed the page to My Recipe Magic. https://www.facebook.com/TheRecipeMagic

Sorry this is happening to you. FB needs to fix this ASAP.

17 Sarah Miller April 20, 2014 at 7:12 pm

Well, the name of the page has been changed now, so at least you can have your name back: https://www.facebook.com/TheRecipeMagic “My Recipe Magic”.

18 Elowyn April 27, 2014 at 9:36 pm

I can see the site fine, and I can’t see any of the posts you’re talking about.. it all looks legit. Can you tell me what to look for exactly?

19 Alyssa May 9, 2014 at 9:33 am

I also can see the facebook page fine. It’s hard to tell whether it is still stolen or whether you’ve gotten it back! I must say, I really have lived in the dark about what you can do with Facebook. Obviously it’s wrong to steal someone’s work, but I had no idea you could make money simply by having fans on Facebook or clicking links to people’s pages. No idea! I also didn’t know about Facebook’s shady practices. Doesn’t surprise me that they have them, though! Hope you have gotten back what is yours by now.

20 Jeni June 23, 2014 at 11:45 am

Do you have your Facebook page back yet (as of June 23, 2014)

21 Sia August 22, 2014 at 6:06 pm

This sucks!!

I am so sorry to hear that your Facebook page got hacked. It is a terrible feeling (something similar has happened to me and i am still trying to recover from it).

Best of luck to you on your blogging/cooking journey. I hope that your hard work is recognised by your readers and that you get your Facebook page back!

22 Stephanie October 7, 2014 at 8:05 am

I just came across this post & checked the FB page. Did you regain control? I want to Like your page, but only if it’s really you.

23 Kim October 8, 2014 at 9:02 am

yes it’s me again!! 🙂 thanks so much for checking…

24 greer June 28, 2015 at 11:58 am

If you dont mind me asking, how did you get your FB page back? This has just happened to my husband’s company FB page as well.
